Wuxi - Pearl of Taihu

无锡影视城

Covering an enormous 100 hectares, CCTV’s Wuxi Film Base is China's first large-scale filming site with cultural attractions. Set next to the beautiful Taihu Lake, it is the perfect combination of film culture and tourism culture making it the first to be named a National 5A Scenic Spot. The site was used for popular TV series “Three Kingdoms” and “Water Margin,” which have been preserved in large-scale classical buildings. The buildings were exquisitely decorated and designed by experts to retain the gorgeous historical and architectural style. Visitors can watch daily shows and dances featuring more than 20 war horses, enjoy the beauty of a local water village on a relaxing boat tour, and even interact with film crews and television stars working in the area.

In a mysterious landscape of lakes and mountains, garden parks, Buddhist culture and history lies the famous National 5A Tourism Spot— Lingshan Buddhist Scenic Spot (灵山景区). With an area of 74 acres in the southwestern tip of Wuxi, this park houses the world’s largest bronze Buddha statue—thats 289 feet of sheer Buddha metal! In addition, it features wonderful attractions including the Brahma Palace, Buddhist Culture Museum, Maitreya Opera, Xiangfu Temple and many other Buddhist sites. It is the most complete and China's only park that showcases Sakyamuni's achievements in Buddhist culture.

无锡太湖

In the heart of breathtaking natural scenery and fascinating cultural relics lies Wuxi’s famous Taihu Lake. Surrounding the lake, you will find luxurious resorts, lovely gardens and numerous scenic areas perfect for a daytime stroll. On the northwest bank is Yuantouzhu Scenic Area, which houses an exquisite water garden and is the best place to admire the green hills, far-stretching mist and clear waters paired with lovely ancient architecture.

Tortoise Head Garden lies by Lake Taihu in the southwestern suburbs of Wuxi, is one of the largest scenic botanical gardens in China. Its outline looks like the head of a tortoise, hence the name. Apart from its exquisite hilly scenery, the garden has temples, bridges, pagodas and other cultural relics, hence the place becomes the most famous scenery spot at Lake Taihu. Over 30,000 cherry blossom trees with 67 varieties are also planted in the garden, making it the best location to bloom watch in Jiangsu during Spring.
