Yuejianglou is situated on the top of Shizishan to the northwest of Nanjing. “Yue” is equivalent to “Enjoying” in Chinese while “River” refers to the world-famous Yangtze River. Ascending the tower, one can enjoy the Yangtze River extending far away to its north and the scenery of Nanjing to its south.
As a renowned tower in southern Jiangsu province, “L” shaped and seven-storeyed Yuejianglou is 51 meters high with the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty(Early 11th century AD). Its jigsaw- like and undulating roof reveals a beautiful outline marked by unrestraint and vividness. The roof-surface is covered by yellow glazed tiles with green glazed edges. Vaults, columns, doors and windows under eaves present themselves in various colors, demonstrating charm and brilliance.
